Flamingods are an immensely talented group out of southeast London maintaining  a vast personal collection of instruments from around the world with a fantastically diverse sound to boot. Recently, they’ve been hard at work preparing for the release of their “Sun” LP on Art Is Hard Records, an excellent label operating out of Exter.

The LP itself drops on January 21st, but the band and label have together released two tracks in advance of album’s debut. Of course each track has its own vibe, but the general theme being something very similar to what you might expect if the dudes in Animal Collective all took a wrong turn on a tour of the Amazonian rainforest in Brazil, became incredibly lost, were forced to fend for themselves for a few weeks in the wilderness, and finally found their way back home only after meeting, befriending, and partying with an undiscovered and uncharted band of super friendly and happy natives. However the difference being Flamingods, behind some of the more psychedelic and electronic aspects of production, seem to also convey more lo-fi and acoustic qualities to their radically rag-tag jams.

The first of these is a track called “Quesso”, featuring not only Flamingods catchy world vibes, but also the mesmerizing guitar work of Dustin Wong. Opening up with a chirp, the song in itself almost sounds like an exotic bird with its chirpy guitar riffs and keyboard melodies. On the other hand, the guys tackle a spectacular oriental sound in their track, “Taishōgoto”. Both tracks are wonderfully inventive and delightful, and the rest of their album is sure to please as well.

You can pre-order the album at the link below, and can also download the track, “Quesso”, which is presently available for free.
